Halloween at Spark House. The whole house and friends are gathered on the assortment of sitting objects downstairs (faux leather couch, church pew, bar stools, footstools) to watch the Reckoning or idk it was some super scary movie whose title is burnt out of my memory because I looked it up on Wikipedia to see if it would be too scary to watch, even though I knew for sure it would be (friends: “Y2K, you should watch it with us!!!”) and getting chills and feeling my brain start to kick into overdrive just by skimming through (and in horror fixating on bits of) the plot synopsis section. I am too old to be embarrassed about my limits. I go upstairs and plug in headphones and turn on a comforting song and curl up on my bed while the movie’s sounds curdle the house. Later, I realize that my next-door roommate is also not watching and we hang out.
