Thoughts take time to develop meaningfully.

A tree is shaped or pruned as it grows, adds, renews. This graph/website is not technically a tree (it already has more than zero loops or something like that). But I guess before I get too worried about the form, or reshaping, organizing, or changing it, perhaps it’s more important to put the concerted and consistent effort into growing the thoughts in the first place.

More so than a blog where I would update it one post at a time, I find that I feel the need to draft, edit, update multiple relevant posts at a time. The downside of that is that I’m not really able to draft, edit, and then post or update the website very quickly, and finding changes to the website might be a bit difficult because they are diffusely spread. For that, I’m going to try and keep a larger update log.

I currently lack a system for keeping track of which posts are in what kind of status: I wanted to keep it in my to-do list of things to do but I think that they probably belong in here, I can make a longer list of things and posts that are in progress. The tag system definitely helps with organizing this!

Structuring that process

But having a process can be really nice. So far I’m cycling through stages where I:

  • Bullet point draft
  • Link
  • Rewrite. Sometimes this means moving content to different pages, creating new links, editing the link labels.

Some of my posts are still in various stages of this process. Rather than going back to my drafts each update and trying to figure out which posts to exclude because they’re not quite ready yet, I hope it’s okay to leave them all there as they are. And that it might feel a little bit like you’re in and part of the process at the same time.
